Our mission is to raise more awareness about sustainability
At NIKODAN we want to give back to the environment and raise awareness about sustainability. We will do this by continuously educating our employees and developing new green initiatives so we can create a more sustainable production. We are especially focused on the Sustainable Development Goals published by the UN, where we've picked out the four most relevant for our company and our sustainable growth.
12. Responsible Consumption and Production
12.4 “By 2020, achieve the environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle, in accordance with agreed international frameworks, and significantly reduce their release to air, water and soil in order to minimize their adverse impacts on human health and the environment.”
12.5 “By 2030, substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling and reuse.”
Through education, employee involvement, and the aforementioned workshops, we want to improve our abilities to:
• Handle and use environmentally friendly chemicals
• Handle the disposal and reuse of waste, and do it as sustainable as possible
• Reuse components to the extent possible
• Choose our primary subcontractors based on a sustainable production, and demand green initiatives from them.
• Reduce water usage significally
8. Decent Work and Economic Growth
8.2 “Achieve higher levels of economic productivity through diversification, technological upgrading and innovation, including through a focus on high-value added and labour-intensive sectors.”
We are working with a workshop-model where selected employees and leaders are involved, in which their goal is to come up with innovative proposals for new technology and initiatives, so we can optimize our production in a sustainable way, as well as make our products “greener”.
7. Affordable and Clean Energy
7.2 “By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.” We already get 100 % of our electricity from wind turbines, and we are working on an actual assessment of our carbon footprint, so we can develop more sustainable energy initiatives.
4. Quality Education
Through ongoing development interviews, we want to evaluate and improve the competencies of our employees within professionalism, IT and language. There will furthermore be offered ongoing leadership workshops focused on the need for training. Sustainability is more than lowering our carbon footprint, it’s also making sure that our employees are educated and with a substainable mindset.
Change is in the wind
We believe in doing our part to conserve our planet’s resources, which is why NIKODAN runs on 100 % green energy. Both our office and our workshops are powered entirely by sustainable energy sources. Through our cooperation with Scanenergi, investing in green energy also means that we invest in a pool of different climate projects to reduce CO2 emission and build sustainable energy sources around the world. Furthermore, we’re partaking in an initative from IngenCO2, to make our website and its usage 100 % CO2 neutral. Because we believe in making a difference and leaving a positive impact on our earth.
